The free Ice Palace adventure will be open during all Fair Oaks holiday hours, except Friday, November 25, 2011, when the display will open at 8 a.m. Fair Oaks Mall holiday hours will be posted throughout the shopping center as well as noted on its shopping line (703) 359-8300 and on www.ShopFairOaksMall.com.
Within the enchanted Ice Palace, visitors on Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the holiday season will be guided by a beautiful Ice Princess, greeting guests and posing for photos.
Icicles descending from Fair Oaks Mall’s 60-foot atrium, in ever-changing colors, will frame the winter wonderland of snow-covered trees and variety of larger-than-life snow globes. As guests walk through the icy realm, they will encounter giant, six-foot snow globes featuring Beluga whales and polar bears in stunning BBC video footage.
Visitors will be able to leave their hand prints on an ice patch and compare its size to that of a polar bear’s paw. They can also measure their height to that of a polar bear, and sit on the stunning Ice Throne that is actually cold to the touch and offers a unique photo opportunity for the entire family.
Once inside the magical, towering 30-foot Ice Palace, guests will experience falling snow, a captivating light show and a 360-degree immersion in breathtaking footage of arctic polar bears, foxes, penguins and other animals and landscapes.
The last stop on the adventurous tour through the Ice Palace will be a visit with Santa, welcoming children with their holiday wishes and dreams. Santa will also offer each child a free small gift of their visit to the Ice Palace.
In the grand tradition of the holidays, guests will have the option to have commemorative professional photos taken as a keepsake of their Ice Palace adventure. Those who purchase a photo package when visiting Santa or the Ice Throne will receive a free 20-page photo book from Snapfish.
The Ice Palace was designed and produced exclusively for Taubman by Global Experience Specialists. The all-audience video footage is provided courtesy of BBC Worldwide Ltd and BBC Motion Gallery.
